Fall harvest is underway!

These sad-looking ears did exist on the dryland corn near Phillipsburg, KS, so we gritted our death and harvested the field a couple of weeks ago.  It made 15 bushels/acre.  I hope we never see another drought like this again in our lifetime.  How depressing!  We finished up picking the dryland corn on September 12 and then got a little rain (.30) that delayed starting on the dryland beans.  Josh and his crew starting cutting them yesterday.  The stalks are green, but the pods are dry and shattering and moisture is 12, so they are forging ahead!  I'll post pictures of the bean harvest soon.  Have a safe and happy harvest everyone!
